Two People Suffers Major Injuries in Monrovia Crash on South Myrtle Avenue near Duarte Road

Monrovia, California (April 5, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a suspected street racing crash that left two people with serious injuries Saturday afternoon in Monrovia.

According to the authorities, a red vehicle and a classic Ford Mustang were racing southbound on Myrtle Avenue near Duarte Road at about 1:08 p.m. April 4 when the Ford lost control on a curve in the road. The Ford then crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a northbound SUV.

The force of the impact split the Mustang in half and burst into flames. The Mustang driver, believed to be 30 years old man, was thrown from the vehicle during the collision and suffered life-threatening injuries.

The male driver of the SUV suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were taken to a hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
