Compton, California (April 27, 2020) – Authorities have identified Stewart Gonzales, 57, of Pomona, as the pedestrian who was killed Saturday night in a crash in Compton.

The California Highway Patrol said Gonzales was walking on the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway north of Alondra Boulevard at around 8:35 p.m. April 26, when has hit by a Honda sedan.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
