Littlerock Man Killed in Head-On Accident on 50th Street at Avenue N in Palmdale ID’d as Ruben Cuentas

Palmdale, California (January 7, 2020) – The Los Angeles County Fire Department has identified the Littlerock man who was killed in a traffic collision that happened in Palmdale as 32-year-old Ruben Cuentas.

The head-on crash happened at around 9:35 a.m. Monday, January 6, on North 50th Street at East Avenue N.

According to officials, Cuentas was driving a 1989 Lincoln Town Car at approximately 50 miles per hour northbound on 50th Street East when he allowed his vehicle to serve to the left into the southbound lane for reasons still under investigation. The Lincoln then slammed into a 2013 Subaru Legacy that was heading southbound on 50th Street East.

Cuentas was declared dead at the scene. 25-year-old Eleni M. Gross of Palmdale, identified as the Subaru driver, was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with critical injuries.

A Lincoln passenger, identified as 32-year-old Cherise R. Cole of Littlerock, was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with severe injuries.

It was not immediately clear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

An investigation is underway.
