The accident happened at around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 10 in the 1600 block of West Mission Bay Drive near Quivira Access.

As per the report, a 25-year-old man was driving a 2012 Mazda westbound on West Mission Bay Drive when he hit a 40-year-old man who was walking on West Mission Bay.

The pedestrian sustained head trauma and a broken leg and was transported to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest for treatment.

An investigation into the crash remains under investigation.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
