Pedestrian Killed in Crash on Interstate 80 Freeway Ramp in Solano County

Pedestrian Dies in Solano County Crash on Ramp from State Highway 12 to Interstate Highway 80

Solano County, California (May 7, 2020) – A pedestrian was killed Wednesday night in a crash near Fairfield in unincorporated Solano County, authorities said.

According to a report by California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at about 9:20 p.m. May 6 on the ramp from westbound state Highway 12 to westbound Interstate Highway 80.

The pedestrian, whose name has not been disclosed, died as a result of the accident.

The ramp was closed as a result of the crash. Traffic was being diverted to Chadbourne Road.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
