Pedestrian Killed in Compton Crash on 710 Freeway in Compton

Compton, California (April 27, 2020) – A pedestrian was killed Sunday night in a crash in Compton, according to the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP said a 57-year-old Pomona man was walking on the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway north of Alondra Boulevard at around 8:35 p.m. April 26, when he was struck by a Honda sedan.

The pedestrian, whose name has not been disclosed pending notification of family, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The involved driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

The CHP asked anyone who witnessed the accident to call them at 323-980-4600.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
