Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Vehicle on De Anza Drive in San Jacinto

Person Killed in San Jacinto Pedestrian Accident on De Anza Drive near Main Street

San Jacinto, California (May 7, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking across a street early Wednesday morning in San Jacinto, authorities said.

The fatal pedestrian accident took place at about 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, on De Anza Drive, just west of Main Street.

Authorities said the pedestrian was walking in the middle of the roadway when they were hit by a Hyundai Elantra that was traveling southbound on De Anza Drive.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found the pedestrian lying down in the street.  The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The driver involved stopped at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said.

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call investigators at 951-654-2702.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
