Man Killed in Perris Pedestrian Accident on 215 Freeway near D Street and Fourth Street
Perris, California (May 7, 2020) – A male pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday night in Perris, according to a local news source.
The California Highway Patrol said the fatal pedestrian accident took place a little after 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, on the southbound 215 Freeway between D Street and Fourth Street.
According to the CHP, the man was in the furthest left lane of the freeway when he was hit by a vehicle. He was then struck by several vehicles while lying down in traffic lanes.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
There were no details provided about the first vehicle that struck the man.
Authorities closed all lanes of the southbound 215 Freeway following the wreck. As of 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, the lanes were reopened.
An investigation into the accident is underway. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to call the CHP’s Accident Investigation Unit at 951-637-8000.
