Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Amtrak Train in San Leandro
Person Killed in San Leandro Pedestrian Accident at Davis and Alvarado Streets
San Leandro, California (January 14, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Monday evening in San Leandro, according to authorities.
The fatal accident occurred just before 6:45 p.m. Monday, January 13 near the intersection of Davis and Alvarado streets.
Authorities said the pedestrian who was trespassing on the tracks was hit by Amtrak’s Capitol Corridor train No. 546 that was heading northbound.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The train was stopped north of Hayward following the accident.
No other details about the crash were immediately given.
The accident remains under investigation.
