Pedestrian Dies after Being Hit by Several Vehicles on Highway 101 in South San Francisco

Man Killed in South San Francisco Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 near Grand Avenue

South San Francisco, California (February 10, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being hit by multiple vehicles Sunday night in South San Francisco, authorities said.

At about 9:30 p.m. February 9, the police responded to the pedestrian accident on northbound Highway 101, just north of Grand Avenue.

Authorities said the man was hit by several vehicles while he was walking in the center divider of Highway 101.

At least one driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.

The roadway was reopened at about 10:31 p.m.

An investigation is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
