Woman Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 76 near Adams Road in Pauma Valley ID’d as Paula Napoli

Pauma Valley, California (January 4, 2020) – The woman who was killed last week Thursday in a suspected DUI crash on Highway 76 in Pauma Valley has been identified by authorities.

Paula Napoli, 43, of Winchester, died in the accident that occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, January 2 on Highway 76 near Adams Road.

Authorities said a Toyota Prius, driven by a 23-year-old Temecula woman, was traveling eastbound on Highway 76 and was attempting to pass other vehicles when for an unknown reason, the Prius crossed over double yellow lines and collided head-on with a westbound Infinity sedan driven by Napoli.

Napoli sustained grave injuries and was transported to the Pala fire station, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

A passenger in the Infinity, a 44-year-old San Marcos woman, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The driver of the Prius was also taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. She was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

The accident remains under investigation.
