Patricia O’Donnell Killed in Playa Del Rey Hit-and-Run Accident
Authorities Identify Skateboarder Struck and Killed by Vehicle at Pershing Drive and Campdell Street in Playa Del Rey as Patricia O’Donnell
Los Angeles, California (February 13, 2020) – The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has identified the skateboarder who was killed in an alleged hit-and-run accident early Thursday morning in Playa Del Rey.
Patricia Ann O’Donnell, 48, died in the accident that was reported at around 1:15 a.m. at the intersection of Pershing Drive and Manchester Avenue.
Police said O’Donnell had headed out of a laundromat and was showing a friend her new skateboard when she went into the street and was struck by a dark-colored sedan that was traveling northbound on Pershing Drive.
O’Donnel died at the scene.
The sedan driver fled the scene after the accident. The suspect, identified as Patrick Finkelstein, 45, of Santa Monica, was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence and is being held on $100,000.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
