Police Identify Nicholas Gilland as Victim Killed in Perris Crash on Highway 74 and Meadowbrook Avenue

Perris, California (May 29, 2020) – Authorities have identified Nicholas Gilland, 35, of Perris, as the man who was killed in an ATV accident on Wednesday night in Perris.

The crash happened on May 27, at the intersection of Highway 74 and Meadowbrook Avenue.

Tania Marie Ortiz, 19, of Perris, was driving a 2017 Honda Civic and was turning left from Highway 74 onto the street.  For unknown reasons, Ortiz’s Honda struck an eastbound 2001 Yamaha Bear Tracker that was crossing Meadowbrook Avenue, said the police.

Gilland, the Yamaha driver, was thrown onto the roadway following the collision. He was not wearing a helmet at the time.

Gilland was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, with a major blunt force trauma to his head. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital at about 3:30 a.m.

Ortiz was uninjured in the mishap.
