Motorcyclist Killed in Rear-End Accident on I-680 in Fremont

Fremont Man Killed in Interstate 680 Crash near Mission Boulevard in Fremont

Fremont, California (May 7, 2020) – A motorcyclist died in a collision with a vehicle Thursday morning in Fremont, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP said a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 33-year-old Oakland resident, was traveling in the far-right southbound lane of Interstate Highway 680 at about 7:00 a.m. when it slowed down just north of Mission Boulevard.

A  white 2008 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, driven by a 20-year-old Fremont man, was traveling behind the Impala and was not able to stop in time. The motorcyclist ultimately crashed into the rear of the Impala.

Due to the impact, the rider was ejected from the bike and sustained major injuries. He was taken to a hospital in San Jose, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Impala was not hurt in the crash.

Authorities closed the two right lanes of southbound Highway 680 for about one hour as a result of the wreck.

The name of the deceased man has not been disclosed pending notification of relatives.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

“Far too many motorcycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
