Rider Dies Following Fatal Oakland Motorcycle Accident at Claremont Avenue and Clifton Street
Oakland, California (February 27, 2020) – A motorcyclist died Wednesday night in a collision with an SUV in Oakland, according to a local news source.
The fatal accident, which was reported at about 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, happened at the intersection of Claremont Avenue and Clifton Street.
Authorities said a 61-year-old Oakland man was riding his 1975 BMW motorcycle northbound on Clifton Street when he collided with a southbound 2017 Ford Expedition that was making a left U-turn at Clifton.
Paramedics responded to the scene to provide medical aid to the injured motorcyclist, but he succumbed to his injuries at the accident site. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin
The SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. It remains unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
