Morena Alvarado-Lopez Dies, Juan Bahena Hospitalized after Echo Park Pedestrian Crash on Sunset Boulevard near White Knoll Drive
Echo Park, California (February 25, 2020) – Morena Del Carmen Alvarado-Lopez, 58, killed, and Juan Bahena, 71, injured after an auto-pedestrian crash on Monday afternoon in Echo Park, Los Angeles, according to police.
The police responded to the crash in the area of Sunset Boulevard and White Knoll Drive, at about 1:00 a.m., February 24.
Alvarado-Lopez and her husband Bahena were walking north on the roadway near the Club Bahia when they were hit by a car for unknown reasons. Following the crash, the vehicle dragged the couple for about 50 feet before they became dislodged.
The two victims were taken to County USC Medical Center, where Alvarado-Lopez succumbed to her injuries while Bahena was hospitalized with severe injuries.
Officials confirmed that the suspect fled the scene in an alleged burgundy or red 4-door passenger vehicle with possible front-end damage.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
