Mecca, California (June 14, 2202) – Miguel Cruz, 47, of Mecca, has been identified as the man who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident on Saturday evening in Mecca, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s office

The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of Date Palm Street and 66th Avenue, at about 8:55 p.m., on June 13.

Cruz was hit by a vehicle at the intersection. The factors that contributed to the accident are yet to be established, the police said.

Cruz, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Following the accident, debris from the involved car was found at the crash site.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
