Melissa Brasington and Carolyn Leak Injured in Vehicle Accident on Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore

Melissa Brasington and Carolyn Leak Hospitalized after Lake Elsinore Car Crash on Interstate 15

Lake Elsinore, California (February 21, 2020) –  45-year-old Melissa Brasington and Carolyn Leak, 79, have been identified as the two drivers injured in a traffic collision on northbound Interstate 15, just south of Railroad Canyon Road in Lake Elsinore.

Authorities responded to the crash at around 11:00 a.m.involving two vehicles.

Brasington was driving a 2017 Subaru Forester on the right shoulder when she approached a 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK driven by Leak, who was in the slow lane and steered towards the Mercedes. The Subaru front end collided with Mercedes’s rear end.

The two vehicles lost control, and Leek was ejected out of her car through the open sunroof because she was not wearing a seat belt.

Riverside County Fire Department paramedics rendered emergency aid to Leak, who was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar with life-threatening injuries. Brasington was also seriously hurt but was stable when transported to the same facility.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
