Elderly Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Vehicle at Magnolia Avenue and 32nd Street in Long Beach Identified as Maria Macias
Long Beach, California (March 10, 2020) – Police have identified Maria De Jesus Macias, 86, of Long Beach, as the elderly pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street Friday evening in Long Beach.
The deadly pedestrian accident happened at around 6:15 p.m. Friday, March 6 at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and 32nd Street.
Authorities said Macias was walking across Magnolia Avenue and 32nd Street in a designated crosswalk when she was hit by a gray 2003 Honda Pilot that was heading southbound on Magnolia Avenue.
Macias was treated at the scene by responding paramedics before transporting her to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Honda Pilot, a 46-year-old Long Beach man, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Distracted driving, alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
