Maria Cardona Ramirez Dies after West Covina Pedestrian Accident near Valinda Avenue and Dore Street
West Covina, California (March 10, 2020) – A woman was killed in a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Sunday night, March 1, according to police.
At about 6:14 p.m., the police responded to a crash near Valinda Avenue and Dore Street and found a woman lying on the roadway.
The police identified the woman as Maria Olga Cardona-Ramirez, 77, of La Puente, who was from a nearby strip mall at the time. Cardona-Ramirez was struck by a car as she was crossing the street.
The authorities said the car that hit Cardona-Ramirez was traveling on Valinda Avenue. The driver of the car reportedly did not see Cardona-Ramirez.
Cardona-Ramirez was declared dead at the scene.
According to the police, the involved motorist stopped at the scene and was cooperative.
Drugs or alcohol were not believed to have contributed to the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
