Man Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Jamacha Road in San Diego

Man Killed, 1 Arrested in San Diego Pedestrian Crash on Jamacha Road near Glencoe Drive

San Diego, California (May 23, 2020) – A 28-year-old man was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident on Thursday night in San Diego, according to police.

The deadly crash transpired at about 11:00 p.m., on May 21, in the 8100 block of Jamacha Road, near Glencoe Drive.

According to the authorities, a BMW sedan was traveling westbound on Jamacha Road when, for unknown reasons, it struck the 28-year-old man who was walking westbound in the eastbound lanes.

The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The involved driver, a 21-year-old man, continued driving a few blocks and parked his car then walked away, said the officials.

The police later located the driver. He was detained on suspicion of fleeing the fatal crash. The man was later released.

Intoxication was not considered a factor in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
