Man Dies After Being Struck by Train in Lodi

Man Killed in Lodi Pedestrian Accident near Pine Street Sunday night

Lodi, California (February 24, 2020) – A man was hit and killed by a train in Lodi Sunday night, authorities said.

The fatal crash occurred at a railroad crossing near Pine Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. Sunday, February 23.

First responders arrived at the location and found the injured man. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

Railroad crossings at Lodi Avenue and Lockeford, Locust, Pine, and Tokay streets were blocked as a result of the crash.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
