Man Killed in Fremont Pedestrian Crash on Mission Boulevard at Warm Springs Boulevard
Fremont, California (March 19, 2020) – A man died after being hit by a vehicle in Fremont Thursday morning, authorities said.
The man was walking on northbound Mission Boulevard at Warm Springs Boulevard when a Honda sedan struck him just before 6:00 a.m.
The victim, whose name was not immediately disclosed pending family notification, died at the scene.
The Honda driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said.
It remains unknown if the man was in a crosswalk at the time of the accident.
Northbound Mission Boulevard was blocked at Warm Springs Boulevard following the accident. Drivers were urged to seek alternate routes.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
