Mamlekat Joseph Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Magnolia Avenue in Long Beach

Authorities Identify Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Bus on Magnolia Avenue in Long Beach as Mamlekat Joseph

Long Beach, California (February 9, 2020) – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a bus Saturday morning in Long Beach as Mamlekat Joseph, 71, of Long Beach.

The deadly pedestrian accident took place at about 11:16 a.m. Saturday, February 8, on Magnolia Avenue and West Third Street.

According to the authorities, Joseph was walking across Magnolia Avenue when she was hit by a northbound 2002 Bluebird bus that was making a left turn onto Third Street.

Joseph died at the scene.

The driver of the bus, a 25-year-old Van Nuys man, stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Alcohol or drugs were not suspected to be factors in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
