Luis Uribe Seriously Injured in Baldwin Park Car Accident on 10 Freeway

Baldwin Park, California (February 20, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that killed one person Wednesday morning and left several others seriously injured in Baldwin Park.

At about 4:00 a.m. February 19, the police responded to a three-car crash on the westbound 10 Freeway, west of Francisquito Avenue.

A 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, driven by Ana Guillen, 57, of West Covina, was traveling in the No. 5 lane when it was sideswiped on the left rear by a1993 Nissan pickup truck, driven by a 55-year-old man from Montclair in San Bernardino County. 

As a result of the crash, the Nissan spun and stopped in a northerly direction, straddling the middle lanes, 

Luis Uribe, 37, of Covina, who was driving a 2018 Honda Accord, tried to avoid the Nissan but ended up crashing into the right front side of the Nissan. It was not clear if the Nissan driver was still inside the car in the second collision, the CHP said.

The 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene while Uribe was hospitalized with a fractured back.

Guillen, who was not hurt, was transported to a hospital for a mental health evaluation and was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.
