1 Injured in Indio Car Accident on Avenue 50 and Jackson Street

Indio, California (February 19, 2020) – One person was injured Tuesday afternoon after a police pursuit ended in a traffic crash in Indio, authorities said.

The accident occurred on Avenue 50 and Jackson Street on Tuesday, February 18.

The incident started when the deputies tried to stop Froilan David Ramirez, 40, in Coachella after suspecting he was driving under the influence. However, Ramirez failed to yield, and the pursuit began.

The chase came to an end when Ramirez struck another vehicle at the intersection of Avenue 50 and Jackson Street.

The driver of the vehicle that Ramirez slammed into suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Ramirez was booked into Indio jail for felony DUI resulting in injury, felony evading and committing a felony while on bail. He also booked for two outstanding felony arrest warrants.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
