Lisa Chavez Injured in Gustine 2-Vehicle Crash near Sullivan Road Wednesday evening

Gustine, California (April 23, 2020) – One person was killed and another was injured Wednesday evening in a traffic accident in Gustine, according to the California Highway Patrol.

On April 23, at about 4:25 p.m., a 1996 Acura Integra was heading northbound on Highway 33 when it attempted to make a left turn onto Sullivan Road and collided with a 2017 Nissan Sentra that was traveling southbound.

A 26-year-old man, who was riding as a passenger in the Integra, died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of family.

The driver of the Integra, Lisa Chavez, 23, of San Jose, was transported to Los Banos Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Sentra’s driver, Luis Cruz, 25, of Santa Nella, was uninjured.

All occupants in both vehicles were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
