Pedestrian Killed in Indian Wells Crash at Cook Street and Desert Horizon Way ID’d as Leah Meyers-Mccracken
Indian Wells, California (February 2, 2020) – Authorities have identified Leah Meyers-Mccracken, 22, of Yucca Valley, as the pedestrian who died Friday night after being hit by a vehicle at an intersection in Indian Wells.
The fatal accident took place at about 9:43 p.m. Friday, January 31 at the intersection of Cook Street and Desert Horizon Way.
According to police, Meyers-Mccracken was in the area when, for an unknown reason, a Honda minivan struck her.
Meyers-McCracken died at the scene at about 9:50 p.m.
The driver of the Honda minivan, a 41-year-old Palm Desert woman, stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
It remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
