Laura Christian Killed, Zachary Archuletadiaz Arrested after Oxnard Car Crash at North Rose Avenue and Central Avenue
Oxnard, California (March 11, 2020) – Laura Christian, 67, of Ventura has been identified as the woman killed in a crash involving two vehicles on Tuesday, March 3, according to police.
At about 3:25 p.m., a Ford Freestyle and a Lexus ES300 collided head-on on North Rose Avenue near Central Avenue in the unincorporated area of El Rio.
Zachary Archuletadiaz, 21, of Port Hueneme, was driving the Ford southbound on the roadway when he drifted across the center line into the northbound lane and began driving the wrong way, said the police.
Archuletadiaz then collided head-on with the oncoming Lexus driven by Christian.
Christian was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 68-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Lexus, was taken to Ventura County Medical Center with significant injuries for treatment.
Archuletadiaz was arrested on suspicion of driving when intoxicated.
Archuletadiaz was later freed on bail and transported to Ventura County Medical Center with severe injuries for treatment.
An investigation is ongoing.
