Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant Killed in Calabasas Helicopter Crash

NBA Legend Kobe Bryant and His Daughter Gianna Bryant ID’d as 2 of 9 Killed in Calabasas Helicopter Crash on Las Virgenes Road

Calabasas, California (January 26, 2019) – Authorities have identified two of the nine people who were killed Sunday morning when a helicopter crashed into a hillside in Calabasas as Legendary NBA player Kobe Bryant, 41, and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Maria Onore Bryant.

The fatal crash occurred at around 9:47 a.m. in the 4200 block of Las Virgenes Road, just approximately 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

According to officials, Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other passengers and crews were on their way to the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks when their Sikorsky S-76 helicopter crashed into a rugged hillside and burst into flames.

All nine people aboard the helicopter were killed in the crash.

Bryant was a five-time NBA champion in a career that began in 1996 straight out of a high school and lasted until his retirement in 2016.

Authorities said the helicopter was built in 1991 and was registered to Island Express Holding Corp.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
