Kendra Czekaj Fatal Sacramento Crash on Capital City Freeway

Sacramento, California (January 17, 2020) – 12-year-old Kendra Czekaj has been identified as the girl struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday evening in Sacramento, police said.

The crash was reported on Wednesday, January 15, on the Capital City Freeway near Auburn Boulevard.

Authorities said Czekaj was running after a 16-year-old girl when a vehicle struck her near Watt Avenue.

Paramedics rendered medical aid to Czekaj, but she died at the scene of the crash.

A 40-year-old woman from Sacramento, the driver of the vehicle involved, stopped and cooperated with the police.

No other details of the crash were immediately released.

The crash remains under investigation.
