Julieanne Sweeney Killed in Fairfield Pedestrian Accident at 5th and Idaho Streets

Woman Struck and Killed by Vehicle at 5th and Idaho Streets in Fairfield Identified as Julieanne Sweeney

Fairfield, California (May 13, 2020) – The woman who died after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning at the intersection of Fifth and Idaho streets in Fairfield has been identified as Julieanne Sweeney, 39.

At around 5:30 a.m. May 8, Sweeney was lying in the middle of the roadway when a vehicle hit her.

Sweeney, believed to be homeless, died at the scene of the accident. It remains unclear why the woman was lying at the intersection.

The driver of the vehicle involved, a Fairfield man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
