Jesus Valdes Seriously Injured in Deadly Lake County Accident on Highway 53

Lake County, California – A fatal Lake County accident that occurred when one vehicle attempted to pass another vehicle on Highway 53 on Tuesday, injured one person identified as Jesus R. Valdes, a 53-year-old resident of Novato.

The authorities stated that a Clearlake woman was killed in the accident injuring Valdes and his wife, Elisha Valdes, 49 of Clearlake Oaks.

On September 1, at around 9:15 pm, the California Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Mercedes ML350 that was traveling northbound on Highway 53 when it crossed the double yellow line to overtake a large vehicle.

In an attempt to overtake, the Mercedes collided head-on with an oncoming 2016 Toyota Camry that was driven by Jesus.

Elisha was driving a 2015 Nissan Altima and was behind the Toyota when she crashed into its driver’s side.

The woman who was driving the Mercedes was not wearing her seatbelt and was killed in the accident. Meanwhile, her identity was not released immediately.

Jesus sustained major injuries and was rushed to the Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center.

Whereas, Elisha who suffered from minor injuries was taken to the Adventist Health Clear Lake.

The California Highway Patrol has stated that there was no factor in alcohol or drugs in the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
