23-Year-Old Jesus Araiza Killed in Winchester 2-Vehicle Accident on Highway 79

Winchester, California (January 27, 2020) – 23-year-old Jesus Giron Araiza of Mexico has been identified as one of the two victims killed in a head-on crash in the area of Winchester last week early on Friday morning, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.

The fatal collision happened at about 1:05 a.m. on January 24, along Winchester Road, also known as Highway 79, just north of Scott Road.

As per the California Highway Patrol report, the accident involved a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck travelling south on Winchester Road and a Honda CR-V moving north on the same highway.

The initial report indicated that the pickup truck swerved over the double-yellow line and into the path of the Honda where the two cars collided head-on.

Araiza and 56-year-old Eva Barro were both pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics along with Riverside County Fire Department officials.

The deceased drivers were the sole occupants of their cars at the time of the accident.

The fatal crash remains under an active investigation.
