Jessica Espinoza Hit, Killed by Vehicle on 15 Freeway in Lake Elsinore

Jessica Espinoza ID’d as Woman Killed in Lake Elsinore Pedestrian Accident on 15 Freeway near Temescal Canyon Road

Lake Elsinore, California (February 6, 2020) – The Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau has identified the pedestrian who died after being hit by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in Lake Elsinore as Jessica Espinoza, 35, of Pomona.

The deadly accident happened at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 5 on northbound Interstate 15 near Temescal Canyon Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Jurupa Valley man was driving a white Toyota Corolla northbound on Interstate 15 when, for unknown reasons, he drifted onto the shoulder of the highway and struck Espinoza.

Espinoza was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at about 1:44 a.m.

The driver of the Corolla stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. He was not driving under the influence at the time of the accident, the CHP said.

All northbound lanes of the freeway near Temescal Canyon Road were shut down at around 2:00 a.m., triggering a SigAlert. The roadway was reopened at 7:15 a.m.

The accident remains under investigation.
