Janet Chavez-Calixto Fatal Chula Vista Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway
Chula Vista, California (February 4, 2020) – 24-year-old Janet Alicia Chavez-Calixto of San Diego, has been identified as one of the two drivers killed in a traffic collision on Saturday morning in Chula Vista, as per a police report.
The crash occurred at around 5:a.m. February 1, on Interstate 5 Freeway at Highway 905 near L Street.
Authorities said around twelve vehicles were involved in the wrong-way crash. The wrong-way car was speeding without its light on. The vehicle then collided with a Ford Focus.
Chavez-Calixto, a driver in one of the vehicles and another driver were killed in the collision.
One person was taken to UCSD Medical Center with serious injuries. Another person was hospitalized with minor injuries.
No other details of the crash were immediately released.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
