34-Year-Old Hemet Man Killed in Highway 79 Crash outside Temecula

Temecula, California (January 31, 2020) – According to a California Highway Patrol report, a motorcycle rider died following a head-on crash that happened Thursday evening on Highway 79 just outside of Temecula.

The fatal accident took place just after 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 30 near the intersection of Highway 79 and Anza Road.

According to the CHP report, a 34-year-old Hemet man was riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southeast on Highway 79 when he veered into oncoming traffic on a curve and collided head-on with a 2009 Volvo semi-truck.

The rider, whose name has not been disclosed pending family notification, was declared deceased at the scene.

The semi-truck driver was uninjured.

It remains unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

Police closed Highway 79 in both directions as a result of the crash. Lanes were reopened at around 9:45 p.m.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
