George Estrada ID’d as Man Killed in Fontana Car Accident on Sierra Avenue near Baseline Avenue
Fontana, California (January 12, 2020) – Authorities have identified the man who was killed Friday night in an alleged DUI crash in Fontana.
George Estrada, of Fontana, died in the accident that occurred just before midnight Friday, January 10 on Sierra Avenue near Baseline Avenue.
Police said a gray Mercedes C230 was heading northbound in the southbound lanes when it collided head-on with an oncoming white Nissan Rogue driven by Estrada.
Estrada was declared dead at the scene. The Mercedes driver suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Authorities believed that the driver of the Mercedes was driving under the influence.
Sierra Avenue between Baseline and San Jacinto avenues were shut down as the authorities investigated the cause of the accident. As of 4:00 a.m., the road was reopened.
Further details regarding the accident were not immediately disclosed.
The accident remains under investigation.
