Gary Hurlbut Dies after Scooter Crash on Manzanita Avenue in Carmichael

Gary Hurlbut Identified as Rider Killed in Carmichael Accident on Manzanita Avenue near Winding Way

Carmichael, California (June 7, 2020) – Gary Hurlbut, 66, of Carmichael, has been identified as the victim who was killed in a crash involving a scooter and a car on Friday morning in Carmichael, Sacramento County, police said.

The fatal crash happened in the 4700 block of Manzanita Avenue near Winding Way, at around 12:20 a.m., on June 5.

A GMC pickup truck, driven by Adrian Philip Almaraz, 30, of Fair Oaks, was traveling northbound on Manzanita Avenue when it veered into the opposite lanes and struck Hurlbut, who was riding a scooter in a sidewalk, according to the authorities.

Following the collision, the GMC continued, crashed into a light pole, and finally struck a Toyota Camry that was exiting a driveway.

Hurlbut was pronounced dead at the scene.

Almaraz was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury or death and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, Mr. Arin Khodaverdian believes that car accident claims are rarely straightforward regardless of the circumstances involved. “Liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim and it is crucial, therefore, to have an experienced attorney on your side,” He said.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
