Minor Killed, 10 Seriously Injured in Selma Car Crash on Highway 99 near Mountain View Avenue
Selma, California (May 11, 2020) – A minor was killed and several other people were seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a fiery traffic crash involving six vehicles in Selma, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The multi-vehicle crash, involving a big rig, happened at about 1:20 p.m. Sunday, May 10, on northbound Highway 99, just south of Mountain View Avenue.
According to the CHP, traffic on northbound Highway 99 was slowing down due to a construction in the area. The big rig reportedly failed to slow down, triggering a chain reaction.
A fire ensued following the crash, authorities said. A minor was pinned inside one of the vehicles and had to be extricated by firefighters. The minor was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ten other people sustained major to moderate injuries and were transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities closed northbound Highway 99. Traffic was diverted at Floral Avenue.
The accident remains under investigation.
Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, Mr. Arin Khodaverdian believes that car accident claims are rarely straightforward regardless of the circumstances involved. “Liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim and it is crucial, therefore, to have an experienced attorney on your side,” He said.
Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”
Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
