Fernando Ramirez Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 14 in Kern County
Fernando Ramirez Identified as One of Two Victims Killed in Kern County Car Accident on Highway 14 near Robbers Roost
Kern County, California (December 8, 2019) – The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has identified Fernando Ramirez, 33, of Burbank, as one of the two men who were killed in a traffic accident that occurred early Saturday morning in eastern Kern County.
The fatal crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol officers at about 2:04 a.m. Saturday, December 7 on Highway 14, just south of Robbers Roost.
According to the CHP, a Sheriff’s Chevrolet Tahoe patrol vehicle collided head-on with a 2015 Toyota Tacoma for an unknown reason on southbound Highway 14.
Ramirez, who was the driver of the Tacoma, was pronounced dead at the scene. The front-seat passenger in the Tacoma, identified as Michael John Ferialdi, 33, also of Burbank, also died at the scene.
A third person in the Tacoma, a 30-year-old Burbank man, was able to get out of the car under his own power and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with unspecified injuries.
The driver of the Sheriff’s vehicle, identified as Sgt. James Anton, was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital with major injuries.
It remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident.
The CHP is investigating the accident.
