Woman Dies after Oceanside Bicycle Crash at Highway 76 and Benet Road
Oceanside, California (January 16, 2020) – A woman was killed on Wednesday night following an Oceanside bicycle crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, at West State Route 76 and Benet Road.
Authorities said a woman was riding a bicycle when she was struck by a car for reasons still under investigation.
The female rider suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The name of the woman was not immediately released awaiting notification of next of kin.
Officials confirmed that the involved driver remained at the crash site and cooperated with authorities.
Police did not suspect alcohol or drugs to have played a role in the accident.
All lanes on west State Route 76 between Airport Road and Canyon Drive were closed following the accident.
An investigation is ongoing.
