Woman Dies after Elk Grove Pedestrian Crash on Highway 99 near Laguna Boulevard
Elk Grove, California (January 7, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that left a 20-year-old Sacramento woman dead on Sunday night in the area of Elk Grove.
The accident happened a while after 10:30 p.m. Sunday, January 5, on southbound Highway 99 near Laguna Boulevard.
According to the authorities, three cars including a Toyota Prius driven by the Sacramento woman were involved in a non-injury collision on southbound Highway 99. Following the impact, the Prius sustained major front-end damage and drove for nearly half a mile before it became disabled in the median.
The woman then exited the vehicle, climbed over the center divider and crossed the northbound traffic where she was hit by a northbound Honda Civic driven by a 29-year-old Sacramento man.
The woman was declared dead at the scene. Her name was not provided awaiting notification of the family.
The incident remains under investigation.
