Esteban Ontiveros Jr Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 in San Jose

Esteban Ontiveros Jr Fatal San Jose Vehicle Accident on Highway 101

San Jose, California (February 4, 2020) – 22-year-old Esteban Ontiveros Jr of Morgan Hill, has been identified as the man who was killed in an accident involving multiple vehicles on Sunday morning in San Jose, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner.

The collision was reported at around 12:40 a.m.February 2, along northbound Highway 101 near Bailey Avenue.

The California Highway Patrol said Ontiveros was driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander. The Hyundai spun out and was struck on its right side by a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia big rig, which caused the Hyundai to overturn and catch fire.

Ontiveros was ejected from the vehicle, and he was struck by 1 2012 Mazda 3.

Ontiveros was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

No other details of the crash were immediately released. 

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
