Eduardo Ramirez Among Two Drivers Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 12 near Guard Road in Lodi

Lodi, California (December 10, 2019) – Authorities have identified Eduardo Ramirez, 25, of Thornton, as one of the drivers who were killed Sunday morning in a head-on crash in Lodi.

The deadly crash took place at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, December 8 on Highway 12, just west of Guard Road.

According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, a red Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on Highway 12 when for as of yet to be determined reasons, it crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a silver Nissan Sentra that was heading westbound.

Ramirez and the driver of the Altima, who authorities identified as Ronald Baoanan Esperanza, 50, of Stockton, were both declared dead at the scene.

The CHP said alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.

Highway 12 was closed while the investigation and clean up took place. The roadway was reopened just before 8:00 a.m.

The accident remains under investigation.
