Coroner Identify Charles Guerrero as Victim Killed in Pittsburg Pedestrian Accident on Highway 4, February 16

Charles Guerrero Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Highway 4 in Pittsburg, Sunday Morning

Pittsburg, California (February 18, 2020) – The name of the victim who was struck and killed by a vehicle on eastbound Highway 4 at the Loveridge Road off-ramp on Sunday morning has been released by Contra Costa County coroner’s office.

The fatal pedestrian accident involving a 2013 Honda operated by a 36-year-old Livermore man happened after 1:00 a.m. on February 16 in Pittsburg.

As per the report, 33-year-old Charles Guerrero was pronounced dead at the scene after the Honda hit him.

The initial report indicated that Guerrero was walking in the No 2 lane of the off-ramp while the Livermore man was exiting the freeway at the time of the collision.

The involved male driver stopped after the collision and cooperated with the authorities’ investigation.

Meanwhile, detectives did not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident. The investigation is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
