Fullerton College Student Hospitalized after Fullerton Pedestrian Accident on State College Boulevard
Fullerton, California (February 20, 2020) – A Fullerton college student was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday in Fullerton, authorities said.
The pedestrian crash occurred on State College Boulevard on Wednesday, February 19.
According to the authorities, the student was walking along State College with her grey backpack on when she was struck by a white SUV that was exiting a parking lot. The SUV dragged her body about 10 feet following the crash.
The student was pinned underneath the SUV and was extricated by emergency responders. The patient suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a local trauma center.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was not arrested.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
