Car Hits Man, Drives into Building on North Avalon Boulevard in Wilmington
Wilmington Pedestrian Crash on 1000 North Avalon Boulevard Saturday Morning
Wilmington, California (December 29, 2019) – A driver who accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal struck a pedestrian and crashed into a building Saturday morning in Wilmington, a local news source reported.
The driver involved was a 60-year-old woman driving an older Lexus.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said the accident occurred at around 10:20 a.m. at the 1000 block of North Avalon Boulevard.
The driver was parking her car between lines in a parking space when she pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal.
The car accelerated and hit a man, sending him through a plate glass window, and then crashed into the building.
The pedestrian sustained small lacerations from the glass window and complained of pain.
The driver of the car was not injured. Authorities said she was not impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
