1 Injured in 2-Car Accident on Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek

One Injured in Walnut Creek Crash on Interstate Highway 680 near State Highway 24

Walnut Creek, California (December 29, 2019) – A person was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Walnut Creek Saturday night, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

The accident took place at around 8:15 p.m. Saturday, December 28 on the connector ramp from southbound Interstate Highway 680 to westbound state Highway 24.

According to the CHP report, two vehicles collided on the roadway for undetermined reasons. As a result of the crash, both vehicles ended up on the embankment beyond the right shoulder of the connector. They came to a stop almost a quarter-mile apart.

At least one person was trapped in one of the vehicles and had to be extricated by firefighters. The victim was conscious and alert. The extent of the patient’s injuries was not immediately disclosed.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
