Bicyclist Killed in DUI Crash at Tennessee Street and San Bernardino Avenue in Redlands

Bicyclist Dies, Ricardo Aguilar Arrested Following Redlands Bicycle Accident at Tennessee Street and San Bernardino Avenue

Redlands, California (May 9, 2020) – An alleged DUI car accident has claimed the life of a transient male bicyclist Thursday night in Redlands, authorities said.

At around 8:00 p.m. May 7, officers responded to the area of Tennessee Street and San Bernardino Avenue, for a report of a bicycle accident.

According to the authorities, the bicyclist was traveling through the intersection of Tennessee Street and San Bernardino Avenue when he was struck by a speeding 1996 Toyota Camry, driven by Ricardo Angel Aguilar, 34, of Mentone.

As per the report, a nurse on her way home from her shift at Redlands Community Hospital responded to the scene to help the injured rider. The victim was then taken by responding paramedics to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Authorities determined that Aguilar was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. He was eventually arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and DUI.

Aguilar was being held on $250,000 bail.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

“Far too many bicycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
